Swinging when you're winning!
Even though none of our team had played golf for some time, and our swings were a little rusty, we were invited to take part in the Annual E-Consultancy Golf Day at Hanbury Manor.
We decided that there could be no room for failure and a crack team consisting of golf players from Evolving and our sister company Make it Rain arrived at the country estate. With the likes of Darren Clarke and Lee Westwood being humbled on this course in The English Open, it was with some trepidation that I was announced onto the first tee (announced, I felt a little out of my depth) and placed my ball down. With the team all getting away well, the challenge was on to put a good card together.
The sun was shining; it was a beautiful day and we played some memorable shots plus a few we would rather forget! The golf day was a great event allowing us to meet companies across the digital mix, share knowledge and gain new contacts. We all enjoyed the meal laid on afterwards and chatted over drinks a the impressive clubhouse.
Now to the important part! As the scores were read out our thoughts changed as we came to realise we had put in a very good score... That may not go down too well after we convinced everyone at the start of the day we would struggle to get off the first tee. We were in a tie for the lead, but with only medals for one team our hopes were dashed when we were put into second on count back. We are now keen to come back and claim the title next year.
